Stump and tree work guides.

Short answers to common questions before you request an estimate.

Grinding or excavation: which do I need?

Both services deal with a stump, but the results differ. Grinding reduces the stump in place and creates wood chips. Excavation removes the stump and root ball and leaves a larger opening.

Your access, planting plans and next project help determine the right approach. Include them when you request an estimate.

What should I send for an estimate?

Photos and a few details are enough to start the conversation.

  • Photos of the full stump
  • Photos of the surrounding ground
  • The equipment access route
  • Your city or ZIP code, stump count and approximate size
  • Your plans for the area

What happens to the wood chips?

Stump grinding produces wood chips. Discuss whether they will remain on site or be removed, and what preparation is needed before planting or laying lawn.

Can equipment get into my yard?

Show gates, narrow passages, slopes and the route from the driveway. Measure the narrowest opening if possible.

Equipment access is assessed before the work is confirmed.

Planning tree work.

Show the whole tree and nearby structures. Confirm tree work, debris and stump work separately.
